Chili sauces, also known as hot sauces, are spicy relishes made using fresh chili peppers as its core along with other ingredients such as vegetables, fruit, vinegar, sugar and all kinds of spices. The amount of chili in these relishes can vary greatly, since some sauces (e.g. Worcestershire sauce or teriyaki sauce) only call for a slight soupçon of chili. Very hot chili sauces contain a maximum of 50% fresh chili peppers, otherwise the mixture becomes too thick and viscous. Shelf life is guaranteed thanks to a low pH value (vinegar or citric acid) and heat treatment. Chemical preservatives are absolute taboo for us.

The product development department at Chili Food guarantee a constant supply of new recipes and a huge variety of flavours and heat levels. At the same time, we also text countless sample products from manufacturers all around the world as only the very best and most interesting sauces make the grade for our product range. At Chili Food, product development is a matter of utmost importance as only products which founder and owner Michael Dietz himself likes are included on our lists. We work predominantly with chili sauce specialists from the USA, who have a lot of experience in the area of sauce production. We have also now started working with local partners for chili cultivation and the production of chili sauces. We are attempting to continuously increase the amount of products that have been grown or manufactured locally.
