The peach-coloured Bhut Jolokia chilli actually matures in a soft peach shade, but is in no way inferior to its red sister in terms of fiery heat.
Before new, hotter varieties overtook each other as the hottest chilli almost every year, the Bhut Jolokia (Bih Jolokia) variety was the frontrunner for a relatively long time (2007 - 2011). It originates from the Assam region in India and has been traditionally cultivated and used there for many years. Tests carried out by the Chile Pepper Institute in 2005 revealed a value of 1,001,304 SHU, making the Bhut Jolokia the first chilli variety to exceed the magic one million mark.
The ground Bhut Jolokia Peach chilli is extremely hot and has the typical flavour of the Bhut Jolokia variety, but with a slight fruity undertone that reminds some people of a peach note. The chilli flakes are suitable for spicing up Asian dishes, especially Indian curries, meat and fish dishes. The fruity note also harmonises well with African and Caribbean cuisine.
Production information
We have the Bhut Jolokia Peach chillies cultivated under contract, so we have an influence on the entire production process and in particular on the quality. The freshly harvested chillies are gently dried and then ground. This ensures that the flavours are almost completely preserved.

The advantage of chili flakes is that they can be dosed well and strewed over the food. As the spicy heat is relatively strong bonded in flakes, only moderately heat can be tasted when eaten pure. Chili flakes develop their full heat in the stomach. However, if you use the same chili flakes during cooking, the capsaicin dissolves and becomes fully bonded with the rest of the food.
Warning regarding spiciness
Caution: Use cautiously! Have an extinguishing agent ready (e.g. Mascarpone on toast, yogurt, milk, rice pudding, etc.) and take the usual protective precautions (don’t leave it in the reach of children, don’t get it on your hands, in your eyes or on any other sensitive body parts!).
