Cabbage Greyhound Seeds
Info: Cabbage `Greyhound` is appropriately named after the fast busses in the USA, and therefore one of the earliest and fast-growing summer cabbages. The plants yield tender juicy hearts with a mild flavour. The compact, pointed heads are produced quickly with few wasteful outer leaves so it can be grown at 30cm spacings.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow under glass in February and successionally for heads from late June onwards. A last sowing in late July should give a crop for cutting in October. Sowing depth: 12mm and space 15 to 20cm between rows. Cabbage seedlings are ready for transplanting when they are between 6 and 8cm high, around 30 to 45cm apart. Cabbage grows best in partial-shade, in firm, fertile, free-draining soil which should be slightly calcareous. Water regularly, especially in dry periods. Harvest from June to August (through to October).
