Organic Lemon Drop Chili Seeds 1000 Stk.
Information: Due to its intense citrus flavour, the Lemon Drop chili pepper is one of the best-known varieties of the Capsicum baccatum, a plant native to South America. Key characteristics of this variety of the species are its upright, large and clearly ramified growth habit (they can reach a height of up to 2 metres), as well as its white blossoms with green-yellow accents that form in the centre of the flower.
Lemon Drop chili is also known as ají limo or hot lemon, it is a highly fertile plant that can be produce up to 100 fruits in one year. The elongated chili peppers are thin-walled with only a few seeds, they ripen from green to a luminescent yellow. With their fruity flavour, reminiscent of citruses, lemon drop chillies are perfect for salads. They can however also be eaten fresh or dried and ground into a chili powder, which is luminous yellow in colour. In South America this chili is traditionally used to season salsas and sauces as well as fish dishes and cuy (grilled guinea pig).
Care: Germination temperature is between 22°C and 28°C (germination period: 8-20 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised permeable soil and should not be left in standing water. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered place with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, if not more. The earliest time to place the plants outside is 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. If planting the Lemon Drop chili peppers outdoors, take care leave at least 80cm space between individual plants. They can also be cultivated in plant pots with any problem. The plants are also easy to take care of throughout the winter if they are grown in pots. It might be necessary to cut them back slightly and place them in a light place where it is at least 15°C.
