Lamb chops spicy Italian style
Ingredients (for 4 people):
- 8 lamb chops
- 600 g potatoes (medium to large)
- 800 g canned tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. Habanero Flakes depending on your desired level of spiciness
- 1 tbsp. capers
- Tomato puree
- some sugar
- 1 medium-sized onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Rosemary, sage (fresh herbs if possible)
- some lemon juice
- coarse salt
- Black pepper from the mill (e.g. >> Tellicherry)
- Olive oil
Salt and pepper the lamb chops and fry them for 30 seconds on each side in a pan with some olive oil, then place them in a large baking dish. In the same pan, fry onions, garlic, tomato puree, sugar, Habanero Flakes and salt in some olive oil. Briefly fry the tomatoes, crushed by hand or cut into small pieces, in the pan. Then add the capers, lemon juice and herbs to the tomato mix, and distribute this evenly onto the lamb chops.
Peel the potatoes and cut them lengthwise into slices. Place the potato slices evenly over the other ingredients. Sprinkle the potatoes with some olive oil and salt.
Bake in the oven for 50-60 at approx. 180 degrees.
