Gakido Chili Seeds
Information: A chilli variety discovered in Japan with medium heat and intense red ripening chillies with a slightly fruity flavour. Due to its small size, the Gakido chilli is perfect for growing on the balcony. The tapered chilli peppers have the typical familiar chilli shape and the well-known red colour; they are at their hottest when ripe, but are often harvested when unripe and green.
Gakido is ideal for fresh use, in curries, for drying and processing as a powder or for making sauces. When kept on the balcony in a small pot, the plant remains bushy and compact; in a bed it grows somewhat wider and produces slightly larger pods.
Care: The germination temperature is between 22 and 28 °C (12 - 21 days germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, well-drained soil and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be placed in a full sun, sheltered spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight, preferably more. Place the plants outside at the earliest approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. If you cultivate the plant in a pot, you can overwinter it. To do this, you may need to cut it back a little and place it in a bright spot with a temperature of at least 15°C.
