Puya / Pulla Chili Seeds
Info: The Puya or Pulla chili is are a heirloom from Mexico and a member of the species Capsicum annuum. The plants grow bushy and get 75 cm high. The elongated peppers with about 8 cm in length ripen to a deep crimson or purplish red. They are particularly suitable for drying and chili powder production. The chillies have a unique fruity flavour with licorice, cherry and wild berry undertones. In Mexico they are a favorite substitute of Guajillos for sauces, salsas and mole sauces. They work particularly well with chicken or fish as well as with burritos, stews, dips, soups and chutneys - in all dishes where you need a fruity sweetness.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (8 - 21 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
Tips for successful chili cultivation can be found in our Chili Cultivation Instructions and in the Chili Diary.
