Organic Habanero Neon Chili Seeds

Info: The Habanero Neon Chili is one of the most high-yielding varieties there are. Over 500 fruits can develop on each plant, so they have to be supported to a great extent. The chilies ripen to a bright yellow and taper to a point at the end - unusual for Habaneros. They have a fantastic, fruit flavour and a powerful spiciness. They are excellent for fresh processing and for making fruity sauces and salsas. As they have very thin fruit walls, they are suitable for drying and making into a bright yellow chili powder.

General Info: The Habanero variety probably comes from the Yucatan region of Mexico. While the name "Habanero" means "from Havana" in English, they are only found occasionally in Cuba. They are still mainly cultivated on the Yucatan peninsula, although there they are predominantly orange and yellow Habanero varieties. The red varieties mostly come from the Caribbean or the southern states of the USA.

Care: The germination temperature is between 22 und 28°C (8 - 21 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. As the plants have a long ripening time, they should be cultivated in pots, so that the plants can be brought inside when the temperature falls below 12°C during the day, allowing all the fruits to ripen. To overwinter after the harvest cut back by 20 cm and put them in a light place with a temperature of at least 15°C.
