Info: Buttercup Pumpkin is a unique variety with unusual shape with grey-green skin and firm dense orange-red flesh with superb sweet and nutty flavour that can be used for a variety of things. It gets a delicate creamy consistency when cooked and its taste is reminiscent of sweet chestnuts. In a dark, cool place it can be stored for three to four months.
Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space
as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be
profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field.
Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation
is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are
snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It
should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer.
The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
