Spessart Caraway

Spessart Caraway is a regional speciality from the south of Germany. It comes from the Spessart region in Bavaria - one of the most densely wooded low mountain ranges in Germany.

Caraway seed has long been a traditional seasoning in German cuisine, for example, it is used to lighten up hearty cabbage dishes and give them a more aromatic flavour. It is also traditionally added to bread and is often used to enrich baked goods, Bavarian cheese spread, German hand cheese, roast pork, onion tart, sauerkraut, coleslaw, borscht and much more.

In addition to this, caraway seed is one of the oldest known medicinal herbs - it stimulates digestions and helps alleviate respiratory problems.
