Thai ground lemongrass.
The highly-aromatic lemongrass is an important ingredient in Asian cuisine and is being used more and more frequently in this part of the world. It is referred to by the names Lemongrass or Citronelle.
However the name is rather confusing, as Lemongrass has nothing to do with lemons. Botanically speaking, it is a grass which grows in reed-like perennials. When crushed, ground or chopped it develops its lemony flavour.
It is indispensable in Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Indian cuisine. It also gives herbal tea mixtures an exotic note. The lemony flavour harmonises well with other spices without dominating them.
