Whole dried Chipotle Morita Chillies are Jalapeño peppers that are allowed to stay on the plant until they turn deep red and begin to dry out. These deep red Jalapenos are smoked in a traditional way over pecan wood until they are completely dry and develop their typical unique taste. It takes about 5 kg of Jalapenos to make a 500 grams Chipotle morita.
Whole dried Chipotle Morita have the mild to medium heat of jalapenos (5,000 - 10,000 SHU) and are a key ingredient in Mexican, Spanish and South American cuisine. Their flavour can be described best as smokey and tobacco-like with notes of nuts, lemon and fried bacon. The taste fits perfect with barbecue sauces, hearty stews and grilled meats.

How to use
Rinse the dried Chipotle chillies first with warm water, soak in hot water for 10 min. to rehydrate or add directly to the recipe that will cook at least 10 minutes.
