Cardamom is a spice typically of Arabic and Indian cuisine, where for example it is often used to make curry. Here in Germany, cardamom pods are mainly used in baking, particularly during the Christmas season. In Arabic countries, coffee without cardamom is barely imaginable.
Cardamom is a very fragrant spice, which is why you should be particularly careful when using it. Before use, the cardamom pods must be split open, allowing the flavour to fully develop.
